Finding The Best Celebrant For You

Did you know there’s over 9,000 registered celebrants in Australia? Yikes. So where do you begin to look for the perfect celebrant?

Putting aside the fact that I’m a celebrant, I’m pretty easy-going and genuine but I know my style may not be everyone’s cup of tea however its always super awesome if I am and we just click. Either way, I have some tips on how to narrow it down to the best ones that gel with you.

Most couples might look at a few wedding directories, wedding magazines, use google and attend a wedding expo or two. Plenty of options will come out of this but perhaps too many and could be time-consuming and confusing, leading you in the wrong direction. All you’ve found are your average outdated celebrants who perform a cookie-cutter traditional wedding. You know the ones where you have to listen to someone gushing and over exaggerating the truths about love and the wedded couple (puke and big yawn!).

narrow your search, here’s where you can find your celebrant:

  • F&F - Ask friends and family - most of the time it’s your closest that can help.

  • Locals - Ask your local community – when you’re out for a coffee, juice or brekkie, getting your hair done, grabbing some milk and bread, doing your exercise or sport. It’s amazing what you might find in your own backyard, if you ask.

  • New wave of wedding media - Hello May, The Lane and Wedshed - check out the gorgeously cool wedding stories and vendors that featured on these wedding media trendsetters.

  • Social - Use social media – Facebook, Instagram, twitter, Pinterest. Here you’ll get a real feel for the style and personality of the celebrant just by viewing their posts, videos and images.

Also a celebrant from your local area or the location of your wedding can be useful in preparation, but definitely not essential. With Zoom, Skype, Facetime, WhatsApp, Facebook etc etc these days, who needs to be in the same room, suburb or city when you can stay in touch virtually.

Happy planning!
