Southern highlands WEDDINGS

It’s hard not to fall in love with the Southern Highlands. With reminisce of the English countryside, it’s a dreamy pocket full of stunning properties, lush gardens, and a cool climate that produces amazing food and wines. It feels like a world away, yet around one hours’ drive from Sydney and Wollongong, and two hours from Canberra. As a Southern Highlands celebrant, it’s easy to see why its such a popular wedding location.

It’s like you’ve stepped into a dream world when you arrive to the Southern Highlands. It has similar vibes to the English countryside, with lush scenery and a cool climate. You’ll find manicured lawns and spectacular trees dotted everywhere, and high-class venues with old school feels. The place is fit for a plush wedding, if that’s what you’re after, no matter the size.

You can see why the Southern Highlands is a wedding boom town. Somewhere couples go to escape their usual busy city lives. It offers something different. A place that captures that dreamy vibe on their wedding day. Think fairytale, think grandeur and think old school charm. There you have it, welcome to the Southern Highlands!

I’m guessing you’ll wanna get married in a garden (weather permitting). That’s what the Southern Highlands is renowned for. Don’t say I didn’t warn you…it is prettiness overload :) After the ceremony, it’s most appropriate to have photos on the lawn, accompanied with drinks, canapés and live music. Just as the temperature drops, your celebration will lead inside. The gorgeous venue you’ve chosen will have the reception all dolled up and ready to roll, complete with obligatory fireplace.

Weather is such a talking point when it comes to weddings so let’s cover it…you’ll instantly notice the air is cooler and fresher in the Southern Highlands, almost all year round. No surprises in the Winter months, you’ll need to dress warm. It may snow. Autumn and Spring, it’s a mixed bag – lots of cold days and occasionally mild days. In Summer, it definitely warms up. On the rare occasion, you’ll experience a heat wave during the day before it drops again. Most days you’ll still need a jumper, maybe even a jacket. So the good news is, there’s a high probability you’ll feel fresh on your wedding day, instead of sweaty, hot and bothered!

Well, enough about the weather! I’ve also written a journal article on the Southern Highlands, be sure to check it out. Here’s a bundle of my highland favourites - go on, take a look for yourself. I’m sure you’ll be impressed!
